HOME | Apple Spice Infused Bourbon

With the cooler temperatures finally hitting the South, we are more than ready for time by the fire pit, throwing on our plaid scarves and partaking in a bourbon-based cocktail by the fireplace. Amanda and I are bourbon drinkers. Truly, we love the stuff. While we love it year round, bourbon is quintessentially a cozy-up with a blanket spirit.

We're always on the hunt for a new cocktail. Most of our staples are typically an organic combination of multiple recipes. Slowly taking things away and adding just a little more bourbon until we've really made it our own. During the chilly Autumn months, there is always a mason jar of Apple Spice Infused Bourbon - proudly displaying itself on our top shelf (next to the eggs). Add a little bit to a glass of sweet tea, and you've found the closest thing to heaven. We've decided to share with everyone our recipe and....you're welcome!

Apple Spice Infused Bourbon
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 4 days

1 Apple (I used Honeycrisp), chopped
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
5 Cloves
1/4 teaspoon Allspice
1 (750-milliliter) bottle bourbon
1/4 cup Simple Syrup

1. Place first 5 ingredients in a 1-qt. jar. Add bourbon, cover with lid, and shake to distribute. Let bourbon stand at room temperature 4 days. Give the jar a shake anytime you pass it.

2. After 4 days, shake jar to distribute flavors. Pour bourbon mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a pitcher, discarding solids. Stir in Simple Syrup, and pour into a clean 1-qt. jar. Cover and store in refrigerator up to 2 months.

Serving Suggestion: Add a shot to a glass of iced tea, garnish with an orange wedge and an apple slice.
